December 2017
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces honors lists for fall semester
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ has released its president's and dean's list for academic excellence for Fall Semester 2017. To be eligible for the president's list, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a specific number of academic credit hours. Those who achieve the dean's list are full-time students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Relay for Life team accepting Kare Kits donations
- Relay for Life fundraising team Southern State Cancer Crusaders is collecting items for the creation of Kare Kits care packages to be given to patients undergoing treatment for cancer.
- Sommer Green spotlights ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s free GED program
- Thinking about your GED? Sommer Green has a message for you. "Life sometimes gets in the way," she said. "You may feel like you have to choose between working and going after your GED. Maybe you don't have a flexible schedule, maybe you're struggling to find a job, or to find a better job. We know that. We also know that for you to move up to that next step, you need your GED. We're here to help that happen."

- Two faculty members of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ were presented with 2017 Faculty Excellence Awards at a banquet hosted by the Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE).

- Barr scores 1,000th point for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ women's basketball
- In ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Nov. 17 contest against Hocking College, senior guard Natasha Barr became the 8th person - and the third woman - in program history to score 1,000 career points.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to meet November 29
- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in Room 149 of Central Campus.
- Auditions for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre Company's "Love, Loss, & What I Wore" will be Dec. 1
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre Company will hold auditions for the reader's theatre winter production of "Love, Loss, & What I Wore," by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron.
- Biotech partnership lets students start classes at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ, live at WC
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ and Wilmington College have partnered to increase access and affordability to a four-year college education by establishing a 2+2 pathway option for students interested in biotechnology.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ band to perform Nov. 19 Veterans Day concert
- The Southern State Community Band will honor our nation's veterans with a Veterans Day concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Central Campus.
October 2017
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ open house showcases new Agriculture Facility in Wilmington
- To mark the opening of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's new Agriculture Facility, the college will hold an open house event from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's North Campus.
- Respiratory Care open house events Oct. 17 and 18
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will hold two Respiratory Care Open House events – from 9:30-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, and from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Room 120 of the college's Fayette Campus.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to meet October 11
- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 12 noon Wednesday, October 11, in Room 303 of the college's North Campus.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre presents 'Death of a Salesman'
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre proudly presents Arthur Miller's "Death of a Saleman," playing Nov. 3-5 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee begins at 3:30 p.m.
September 2017
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre Company presents Twain's 'The Diaries of Adam and Eve'
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre Company will present Mark Twain's "The Diaries of Adam and Eve" 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Central Campus.
August 2017
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces honors lists for summer semester
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ has released its honors lists recognizing academic excellence for Summer Semester 2017. To earn recognition, a student must be enrolled full-time and achieve a high grade point average (GPA). Dean's List honorees have earned at least a 3.5 GPA; President's List honorees have earned a 4.0 GPA.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Practical Nursing program celebrates graduation
- Forty-two graduates of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Practical Nursing program were recognized during an August 10 pinning ceremony at the college's Central Campus in Hillsboro.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ to Host Sim Lab Open House on Sept. 13
- In recognition of National Healthcare Simulation Week, ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will host a Sim Lab Open House 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, in Room 183 of the college's Central Campus.
- Auditions for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre's 'Death of a Salesman' August 25
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre will hold auditions for its fall production of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman." Open to community members and students, auditions will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, August 25, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Central Campus.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to meet August 16
- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 12 noon Wednesday, August 16, in the Community Room of the college's Brown County Campus.
July 2017
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ moves forward on Adams County campus
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is moving forward on plans to bring a campus to Adams County. During a July 19 special meeting, the college’s Board of Trustees voted to approve the purchase of land in West Union.
- New partnership expands aviation education in region
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ (³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ) and Antioch University Midwest (AUM) today announced a new partnership to expand aviation education in the region. This exclusive transfer agreement complements an existing partnership between ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ and Great Oaks Career Campuses.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to hold special meeting July 19
- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, in Room 184 of Central Campus.
- PD scholarship awarded to ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ student Ethan Conn
- The Washington C.H. Police Department presented its annual scholarship to Ethan Conn, a 2017 graduate of Miami Trace High School and the son of Glenn and Kristen Conn.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Medical Assisting, Allied Health programs celebrate graduation
- A special celebration was held April 26 to honor graduates of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Medical Assisting and Allied Health programs.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees meeting location changed
- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Thursday, July 6, in Room 184 of the college's Central Campus.

- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre presents 'The Rocky Horror Show' July 21-23
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre will present Richard O'Brien's "The Rocky Horror Show" Friday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, July 22, at both 7:30 p.m. and 12 midnight; and Sunday, July 23, at 3:30 p.m. in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Central Campus.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to meet July 6
- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at First State Bank, 19230 State Route 136, Winchester.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Adult Opportunity Center holds recognition celebration
- Area residents who passed the General Education Development (GED) test were honored June 1 at the 29th annual Adult Opportunity Center’s Recognition Celebration at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.

- The ninth annual education conference "Building Bridges" will be held Aug. 1-4, 2017, at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Central Campus.
- S.T.E.A.M. Summer Camps at Southern State
- Do you have kids who love science, technology, engineering, arts (design), and mathematics? Check out the S.T.E.A.M. Summer Camps offered in Hillsboro and Wilmington through a partnership between ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ and Southern Ohio Educational Service Center.

- Kristy Wilkin sworn in as Southern State trustee
- At the May 5 meeting of the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky A. Coss presided over the swearing in of Kristy S. Wilkin who was appointed by Gov. Kasich for a term through May 11, 2022.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to meet May 5
- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, in Room 184 of the college’s Central Campus.

- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre will hold auditions for the summer production of Richard O'Brien's "The Rocky Horror Show."
- Art Show at Fayette Campus on April 13
- A public viewing for the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Fayette Campus Art Show will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, in the Community Center on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Fayette Campus.

- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ welcomes Canadian folk group on April 26
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will welcome the Canadian progressive folk group Le Vent du Nord 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre presents ‘Waiting for Godot’ April 7-9
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre will present Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot” on April 7 and 8 (at 7:30 p.m.) and April 9 (at 3:30 p.m.) in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to meet March 29 and 30
- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet beginning 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, and reconvening 9 a.m. Thursday, March 30, in the large conference room at the Ohio Association of Community Colleges.

- College Credit Plus process for 2017-18 now underway
- Students intending to participate in College Credit Plus (CCP), the program that provides Ohio students with the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school, can now begin the notification process for the 2017-18 school year.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ hosting Open Houses for GED sites
- Interested in earning a GED? ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is planning informational Open House events at its GED prep site locations throughout February and March.
- Lynn Stevens sworn in as Southern State trustee
- At the Jan. 25 meeting of the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees, Fayette County Probate Court Judge David B. Bender presided over the swearing in of Lynn S. Stevens of Highland County whose appointment will continue through May 11, 2022.
January 2017
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Respiratory Care celebrates graduation
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s 10th graduating class in the respiratory care program was honored during a Dec. 10 ceremony on the college’s Fayette Campus.
- Southern State announces new GED site in Manchester
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces the opening of a new GED preparation site in Manchester. In February, the college’s Adult Opportunity Center will begin offering its GED prep classes from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Manchester Education and Activity Center.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to meet January 25
- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 12 noon Wednesday, Jan. 25, in the Community Room of the college’s Fayette Campus.
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre's "Waiting for Godot" auditions on Jan. 13
